@ww2footage No. This uses .458 diameter bullets, which means bullets meant for a 45-70 Government.
-
@ww2footage No, not without some work anyway. The .45 ACP uses a .451" diameter projectile, the .458 SOCOM uses...a .458" projectile. You could probably make it fit into the case and all, but I don't know if it'd properly engage the rifling.

@ww2footage .45 ACP is a .451 dia. bullet. SOCOM uses a .458, the so-called "rifle" bullet used in a .45-70.
-
@ww2footage I highly doubt it, the .458 shoots .458" dia bullets and the .45 ACP uses .451" dia bullets and its not a good idea, especially in a gas operated firearm to use undersized bullets as it can compromise gas port pressure levels and lead to a host of malfunctions not to mention piss poor accuracy.

@murr42 ...ah in that case....I like it!

It's used by a small number of special forces as a special purpose weapon. It's popular for use with a suppressor and subsonic rounds.
-
@kennythebadass It likely wont penetrate but the blunt force of it will likely do the job.

In regards to the recoil of this cartridge, I would imagine that it would be similar to a heavy 16 gauge slug. To illustrate, The Winchester 12 gauge 2.75" rifled slug throws a 437gr projectile at 1600fps—which is just a tad more power than a Cor-Bon .45-70 405gr load at 1600fps. Therefore, if both guns were 7.5 pounds, the 12 gauge would have slightly more recoil than the Cor-Bon .45-70 405gr load. The .458 SOCOM's max load runs heal to toe with the Cor-Bon .45-70 load.
can be .45 acp bullet(with .458 socom brass) fired by this weapon?
