  • My first time ever to hear this recording and with Gieseking!! Isn't life wonderful? I listened to this twice in a row, re-listened to the middle theme of the 1st mov and the cadenza which I find so listenable where I can actually hear notes not just heavy bangings and the chords at the cadenza tip where they go from slow to rapid succession, amazing achievement. On occasion I 'shop around' for versions I like but I'll stick to this one and Gould's. Thanks for this upload, PRICELESS!

  • marvellous!!!i shall never forget the day this LP arrived from theUSA its a gorgeous performance - and the cadenza is spirited and fun!

  • And someone told me this was one of the worst recordings of the Rach 3.... LOL. This is a wonderful interpretation, he really made it his own.

  • this is a beautiful recording with no stress. There was a reason to make this recording... Gieseking was a great interpreter. He not just plays notes but brings out the meaning of these notes....he knows where and what is important. He doesn t exagerate. Every note is clearly to hear

  • Great to have this in youtube! Thank you!

  • Listening the opening theme is an experience of it's own.

Very interesting. We're all so used to hearing it in much faster tempo that it's shocking at first but after awhile it's convincing,.

Love it. Thanks for the post!

  • Wonderful.

  • sehr groß, danke!

  • di Gieseking conoscevo l'incisione con Mengelberg
