  • I will be very happy to see that there are no ugly wallpapers like you have in the current tank

  • If you have to bring in new fish, say 1 year from now, make sure you are bringing in tiny fish (2-3 inches) and you can quarantine them for 60 days before putting them in with your old fish - That's the best way. The smaller the fish - the lesser the problem for bacterial infections.

  • Sometimes the quarantine don't work on new fish coming in and that new fish will messed up your existing tank/pond and kill your old fish. - That's the lesson I've learned.

  • Clean your filter media once a week and also do a 25% water change at the same time. Only rinse the Biological media in fish water! Water quality is the most important (clean filters, biological media, water changes, PH balance, KH balance). 1 most important: Do not add any more fish to your existing fish - Dealing with bacterial infections is a headache.

  • Don't feed him too much for now. Go easy on the feeding portion for twice a day, 4-5 minutes each, consistent for about 3 weeks before you increase his diet. Every 45 days you can increase the feeding portions by a little bit (so you have to keep record of feeding size).

  • Kansas, so you got two 75 gallon tanks ?

Actually, this tank is very good size for 1-2 jumbo goldies. The reason the fish is swimming around and seems unease is because it is still a new environment for him. From my experience, the bigger they are the longer it take for them to adjust, plus they are always unease in a "quarantine tank." Get the Pro-Gold fish food from goldfishconnection (website). They have plenty other great treats as well.
