i have a D5 too,,sure its dry,,the D10 came with the effects,,reverb chorus. But once you got to grips with LA it can produce some great sounds

I have a D-5 and it isn't as bad as you say. Sure the presets suck and it is a pain in the ass to program, but if you spend time with it you can get some cool sounds.

Yo Carl. The second mode you demo'd on your MicroKorg sounds rather Metroid Prime-ish. I gotta admit, that would be freakin' awesome to mess around with!
