who ever says that this machine will destry the world are WRONG . You would need a magnitude of around 14 to do so and this machine hasnt got the power to do that.... well not yet.
The video is a part of the cryogenic system the LHC uses to cool its magnets to extremely low temps (1.9K, -271C, or -456F .. depending on which temperature scale you prefer).
At these temps they are superconductive, they have zero resistance and thus zero internal magnetic field. A perfect external magnetic field can be induced in the magnets, which is used to accelerate particles (protons, lead nuclei) into each other to study the fundamental (and small) properties of our universe

o and the magnet is a 27kilometer ring which spans two countries, its easily the most complicated device human beings have ever created.
