@peterlunow The concerto was written for Oscar Levant. Taste is subjective. Anyway, call me a purist. Levant set the tradition, and I like it that way. Sorry you're sorry for me.

@BOSOX9004 — I'm looking at the score. This *is* Gershwin. I don't know what else I can say!

@Largo64 well levant was great ,but he is dead ,so for god's sake.... this is pure genius and if you cant hear that ,I'm sorry for you .No disrespect...
-
@jeanpauljh - Read the score again.

@BOSOX9004 I am sorry to correct you. This is indeed a Gershwin composition: "Concerto in F: Allegro".

Not Gershwin.

Maybe This concert would be Legend!! Thanks for posting.
God bless Marcus Roberts, Seiji Ozawa and everyone!!

@NOAMKATZ1 I agree. It's a little shocking at first, but it the jazz idiom after all. Gershwin himself rarely played the same way twice. Just listen to the early recordings of the Rhapsody in blue. They're different from each other. Now whether Oscar Levant would have approved . . .

Hats off to Marcus Roberts! He can play piano a heck of a lot better than I can, and I am vision in both eyes! 78timothy, I think there is a performance due for playing every note tightly as written, but if you hear the midi version of this piece it sounds cold, unhuman and unnatural. It has its place, but jazz brings warmth to this piece and I think it has a right to be presented, nevermind what copyright laws and lawyers have to say...

this is amazing
