  • Just Wonderful !

  • In the 70's I was performing with my trio in Cape Cod, Dave was also playing there but got off eariler than me and would come by my place and sit in and I'd sing with him playing. Of all the pianists you always knew when you when you heard Dave. His style was his own. We became close friends and I miss him to this day. A big burly guy that one would never expect to hear such music from.

  • the third song is named The Blue Room

  • How could you not love this. Does it get any better than this?

  • My friend Myron Jones said, "He looks more like the guy that would move the piano than the guy who plays the piano, but he swings like crazy."

Songs: 1) My Funny Valentine, 2) Blue Moon. I don't recognize the third one. 4) The Lady is a Tramp, 5) the start of Have You Met Miss Jones?

  • Hi DM fans, I invite you to view a wonderful master class on the music of Dave McKenna. Free, entertaining and VERY educational:) To view, type in "Dave Frank" McKenna on Youtube. You vill enjoy it!

  • @puppetease I would love to hear your recording!

  • Yeah! this is a gem - Thank you!!

  • mY FAVORITES -THANK YOU It was a shame that Lorenz was such a tortured soul.

  • Ahh....so nice to hear Dave again. If I close my eyes I'm almost back at the Copley twenty years ago. As a piano player, Dave's stuff was always particularly appealing to me. Choice changes, that left hand, so perfect whether walking, comping, or pumping out those four to the bar figures, the right hand runs and his gorgeous phrasing

I recall seeing him walking down Comm Ave after Red Sox games in the mid 80s. Even if the Sox had played poorly that day, Dave never did. He was always right on!
