The Skye Boat Song - Tin Whistle

The Skye Boat Song è una tradizionale canzone scozzese che riguarda la fuga di Charles Edward Stuart ("Bonnie Charlie") ultimo pretendente al trono di Scozia, avvenuta a seguito della sconfitta subita nella battaglia di Culloden (1746). Bonnie Charlie fuggì da Uist verso l'isola di Skye a bordo di una piccola barca insieme a Flora MacDonald che lo aveva fatto travestire da domestica per facilitargli la fuga.
La battaglia di Culloden pose fine al giacobitismo e la Scozia non cercò più l'indipendenza sui campi di battaglia ma in parlamento.

The Skye Boat Song is a traditional song about the escape of Charlie Edward Stuart ("Bonnie Charlie") the last pretendent of throne of Scotland. Bonnie Charlie after the battle of Culloden (1746) escaped from Uist to the island of Skye on a small boat with the aid of Flora MacDonald that had him disguise from domestic to make easier him the escape. The battle of Culloden maked end to jacobitism and the Scotland did not try more the independence on the battlefield, but parliament.
