More tests with TFD.

Blending it with some blades, and sucking it up with a vacuum.

The manual (and website) for TFD says that you need to be using a GPU with at least 1.5GB's of RAM in order to use the GPU simulation feature. My GTX 560 only has 1GB, however I was able to enable to the GPU sim feature by updating my GPU driver to the latest 285.62 driver.

The GPU simulation is definitely faster. Its not a huge improvement, but you can definitely see it simulating faster.

  • Great stuff!!! I know a little about TFD, but how did you do the sucking / vacuum part?

  • @leaves30 TFD works like real world, and vacuum is just low pressure, so if you give the pressure setting of an object a negative value, the smoke will be attracted to it.

  • A bit an off-topic question but how did u model the base of the destiny?

  • @lStreaml I used a HD screen cap from the show, and used a spline in a extrude nurb.

  • That was great Shepperd! ..please (if you have the time and inclination) could you explain how you achieved this, a tutorial or just a list of procedures?

    ...thanks for sharing Shepperd.

  • @BlackNapkin61 TFD works and operates just like real world gaseous fluids. In order for me to explain how to use the plugin, I would first need to explain how fire is created. However for these dry ice simulations, its just white smoke with a negative buoyancy. I'll make some tutorials when I have time.

  • It actually looks pretty sick. Have you tried simulating smoke in Realflow and if so would you say TFD is better/faster?

  • @ShepperdOneill Thanks a lot! I'll try it out

  • Its always fun to watch your work!

  • This is beautifully rendered and composed. I'll soon have a chance to attempt (lol) animations like this on my own since I finally have a laptop from Alienware on the way capable of handling things like this. Thank you sir for posting, and thanks to Maxon for liking this video and bringing it to my attention. Much appreciated.

  • pls make a tutorial

  • Sexy!
