@ zachattacking Tim Robbins did a movie called Bob Roberts. He wrote and directed it. It was a mockumentary of a right wing governors race if I remember correctly. That movie cemented him in my mind as one of the few people who do really understand politics. It was made in 1992. He was an activist then, and has had another 15+ years to build on his knowledge.
@jkiene I don't know, he's played some good roles.
Political expert? I think that all that's required in politics is to be well-spoken and have some knowledge on the issues. People will respect your opinions if you present them with wit and clarity.
As far as Edwards is concerned... I think you'd be hard pressed to find a politician who's completely innocent... blahblahblah.
I was actually pretty drunk when i posted that comment. I generally refrain from youtube discourse.
@zachattacking A Celebrity, truck driver, physician, school teacher, garbage man. Their opinion matters exactly the same...unless that person is an expert on the subject. The fact is Tim Robbins is not a political expert...even most left liberals would agree. He chose a Candidate in John Edwards, a Hypocrite lawyer who cheated on his wife who had cancer and used payoff money from his campaign to his mistress. My point is he's a lousy actor with no expertise....at all.
I know this is out of date, but I'd like to respond anyway.
Does is matter that he's a celebrity? Does his celebrity make his opinion less than others?
I'm happy that Robbins is using his celebrity in a more immediate way, with rousing up people for a cause that's more immediate and imperative, rather than enlisting celebrity causes; not that there's anything wrong with that.
Classic. An actor who thinks people actually respect his opinion. His choice for John Edwards was spot on typical example of Hollywood lefties who feel guilty they get paid to pretend. The ego of the left and hollywierd go hand in hand...funny...
God, stop drooling over yourself Tim! Go and make a film where you dont chew up the scenery with that 'everything I say is full of meaning' look. Unctuous, self-serving twaddle.

He's more than qualified.

Robbins is a "mechanism of brainwashing the masses". He's made mansion-loads of cash doing it too.
"guardians of the human spirit"
"Instead of catering to the gossips, and the scolds, and the voyeurs"
He's essentially recruiting his compatriots in the room to act as "guardians of the human spirit" instead of catering to you, the American people.
Yeah, this would be the same American people who defeated fascism despite people like, you guessed it, Tim F'n Robbins.

WOW.
tells the nation of 'broadcasters' that it is their job to distact the public from honest dialouge, beacuse scarlet reds are more appealling
that we people with untelevised opionons are confusing the public and 'isn't there enough money to buy youtubeand shut it down?'
I noticed how he was whiteballin the whole scene as soon as he walked on stage
This is an excellent speech using high end structure, dialect and to me appears as some very cutting edge dialouge to the medias, but truly isn't.
