when they strip the boral forest so they can mine the tar sands, how do they calculate the loss of the forest?

"For all the people touting tar sands as a solution to the pending apocalypse of Peak Oil, a little experience with reality should help them understand that the books on energy are as cooked as the books of Enron, WorldCom and Halliburton. When business tells you there's plenty of oil it is only to protect the financial markets. One more time Canada gets screwed as tar sands oil production proves to be a non-cost effective and environmentally destructive concept." - ruppert

Peak oil already will destroy 5 billion of the world's population by simple mathematics and the law of thermodynamics. All the other talk of "the economy" is moot. The economy=energy. Not money, gold, nor products, etc. Without sufficient hydrocarbon energy our planet must go back to the amount of sunlight that humans can capture per year to support our species. What is really developed that can realistically do that at this time?

I am researching Peak Oil for a presentation on embodied energy, for my graduate studies in Architecture. Your video was awesome! I feel that much more knowledgeable about it now. Thanks!
