Recorded with pocket video-camera Sanyo CA65.
We were pulled over because we did not have a helmet,...
First they asked when are we leaving the country and then he told us that we have a serious problem because we will have to go to court 3 days after the flight and so on, he was getting really angry because we did not want to bribe him. He started to write a ticket on a blank piece of paper. When we said we will go to court he started touching his gun and so on,... not so nice feeling being there.
They are very well organized, 2 cops are puling over the tourists and the chef is terrorizing them.
After an hour we realized that bribing is the only way to let us go.
Very good for tourism :)
You can hear the cops voice crack when he says he will call ahead to make sure they dont get fined again, lol hes lying...but although I agree that these guys should have been wearing helmets, they still would have been pulled over and fined for something, it just happens! We had to pay a bribe at Padang bai and we had a balinese driver, dont even know what the bribe was for??? $25 for having surfboards on the roof??? fuck knows???

@wiccedwoman Blah blah blah What's you're point actually? What's your mission? If you don't like Indonesia, don't go there. I won't miss xenophobic bogan trash - Indonesia and Bali are too good for you.

That's not the case in Indonesia. The Bali robber who slaughtered Australian Heidi Murphy, stabbing her 37 times times (including the heart & kidneys), got just 15 years because the judge said he didn't "Mean" to kill her & 2 men who beheaded 3 kids on their way to school got 14 because they said they were "Sorry." Plus just 13 out of 70 Bali terrorists are still jailed (Aussie press reports 16 June 2010). & Time Magazine (latest), has just described the gross sewerage & rubbish in Bali.

Everyone is innocent, right. Do the crime, do the time. Suck it up. Or stay at home.

Excellent - then I won't see you in Bali of which you admittedly know absolutely nothing.

Further Google:

And click on the top link to read a reuters article which clearly describes Indonesia as the most corrupt nation in SE Asia.

25% of visitors to Bali are Australian. As widely described in the Australian media, Michelle Leslie was set up with 2 ecstasy tablets, which led to her parents mortgaging their house to pay off bribes. Same with Robert McJanett. Further, the "Lonely Planet" guide to Bali also describes the rampant corruption of police & their demand for bribes. Tourists driving vehicles are stopped even if they've committed no offence & local signs warn of this hazard. I do travel, just not to Bali.

You're comments are so ignorant and arrogant (what a dumbass combination) they're not really worth replying to. Michelle Leslie was like the guy - busted for breaking the law in another country then upset. If you think the rest of the world should be like Australia, then don't go overseas. Why should Aussies get special treatment? Anyway, Aussies only make up a minority of intl tourists in Bali, and the Bogan element there is an embarrassing disgrace but thankfully mostly confined to Kuta.

It's well known Bali cops book tourists on trumped up traffic & drugs charges, then extort money from them. Dozens have come forward for a coming book. The parents of Australian Michelle Leslie were forced to mortgage their house after their daughter was scammed in this way. Further, 4 star hotels are cheaper on the Gold Coast (Australia), which is also cleaner & you can drink the water. So I'm quite sure "Skippy" & the "Bogans" will be more than happy to take their money somewhere else.

What's Skippy's problem? The dumbass has been busted for not wearing a helmet as he would in Australia. I mean, really. Then the credits complain how scary it was to pay a small amount and miss having to go to court. I'm sure he's spending more on his daily accommodation and beer bill (probably what that cop earns in a week). He should shut up or try not wearing a helmet back home (let me guess, South East Queensland, the bogan capital of the world). Bali doesn't need the bogans anymore.
