Author A.J. Jacobs discusses the motivations behind his book, "The Year of Living Biblically: One Man's Humble Qest to Follow the Bible as Literally as Possible."

-----

A.J. Jacobs discusses "The Year of Living Biblically."

"The Year of Living Biblically" answers the question: What if a modern-day American followed every single rule in the Bible as literally as possible. Not just the famous rules - the Ten Commandments and Love Thy Neighbor (though certainly those). But the hundreds of oft-ignored ones: don't wear clothes of mixed fibers. Grow your beard. Stone adulterers. A.J. Jacobs' experiment is surprising, informative, timely and funny. It is both irreverent and reverent. It seeks to discover what's good in the Bible and what is maybe not so relevant to 21st century life. And it will make you see the Good Book with new eyes. Thou shalt not put it down.

A.J. Jacobs is an editor at large at Esquire magazine, for which he wrote the article "My Outsourced Life". His last book was "The Know-It-All" in which he described the process of reading the entire Encyclopedia Britannica. - Cody's Books

Actually Jacobs has a pretty funny excerpt about how he gets around the stoning issue in the full video (the link is in the video description).

correct , we know God loves them by the act of the cross , if one is not born again then there is real doubt on ones future right? i beleive the reason manind has so wide a choice is Love , i believe God is seeing who really loves him , he can tell by the way ppl live who loves him and who dose not love him , as gods breath is in all men ,it is reasonable to ask man to be kind to each other , as one hurts another he hurts God ,

Once again, saved meaning evangelical saved? Yes I am. Have I questioned this get a free ticket out of hell doctrine? You bet I have. What they are selling is not salvation. It's church clientel. You can not tell someone God loves them, but if you don't believe as I tell you, you are hell bound. Jesus is LOVE. Love never fails. I give God more credit than religion ever did.

Sorry, you may be speaking of Josephus, but again not an eye witness or even a believer and certainly not viable by most scholars. They considered it added on. The apostles did not write the NT, they did what Jesus said, spread the good news. Jesus didn't say write it down, its written in our hearts from the beginning. All we need do is remember it.

thats what the bible is about , the collection of documents of the eyewitness accounts , there are other writers that wrote and recorded the resurrection of Jesus , then the whole Church was formed , healing the sick ,raising the dead and casting out devils Just like Jesus because of this event = now that's proof , not to mention the prophecies that foretold all this , prophecy's many hundred years before ,(only God knows the future)

Isn't it odd, that such an event went unnoticed or ignored by most Jews and Romans? I can even see the Romans ignoring it as superstition, but the Jews would not. They would have believed it sorcery and would have said so, but there is no mention of it. Were they just scared and remained silent? I find it hard to believe there is not one shred of an outside source to this event other than the bible.

I agree with the voice comment. LOL! It's easier to take him seriously as a writer than a public speaker.
