I've read in some australian forums that the TB48E engine isn't reliable at that power levels, what can you tell me about that?

Stock its is not reliable at all
You have to change the internals and definately a better oil pump
this car uses a standard OEM Crankshaft Crower Rods and diamond pistons..Every thing runs perfect till now except for the gearbox lol
