  • I applaud all of Gordon Brown's educational efforts on all fronts, I'm sorry to hear he won't get support from some other parties though. It may be easier to get their support if you had a National Poll of the people in which the people were overwhelmingly behind the Prime Minister on this matter.

  • Apprenticeships have died our hugely since Labour came to power, more and more young people are leaving school unskilled (if they find a job it's normally in the nearest McDonald's takeaway". There's very little financial support now for people who can't afford further education. 18 years is too high (if compulsory), 16 is fine. Glad i left at 16.

  • By 2020, isn't that like, a long way away?

I'm currently 17 years old and I wish to become an Apprentice, but it's hard to get the information to get on one compared to applying to be on a course for college.

Overall, the education in this country is about average in my opinion.

I think that we should be given 3 years of free education in college for anytime during our lives and not just for 16 to 19. I believe this would be a good idea because people value education at a later age.

  • YWCA's More than one rung campaign is doing so much to make sure disadvantaged young women have the opportunity to achieve through skills and apprenticeship training. YWCA has also secured 000s of public supporters behind its campaign; can Anne Snelgrove and others in government join-up with YWCA to make sure the thousands of women YWCA works with are even better supported with apprenticeships to achieve their full potential?
