This song was written & produced in 1967 by R Dean Taylor an American artist from Toronto but didn't really make it as a hit until re-released in the U.K in 1974 where it reach No3 in the charts. Now a classic Northern Soul anthem.
Northern soul is a music movement that emerged from the British mod scene, initially in northern England towns in the late 1960s. A scene which produce a nation of dancers with it's heavy beat and fast tempo soul sound. The Northern soul movement, however, generally eschews Motown or Motown-influenced music that has met with significant mainstream success.
Photo's taken of the dancers at Hemel Hempstead FC n a night of 'Searching for Soul'. Keeping The Faith.
