Besides, even though New Mexico has a Democrat majority, the Democrats here are not socialistic, or what you would euphemistically call "progressive." New Mexican Democrats tend to be centrists, leaning slightly left, but are more conservative than Democrats nationwide. Bill Richardson was the first true liberal governor we ever had, and when he left office, people were sick of him and glad he was done.
