Breech Water Birth at Home

A blissful experience, but hard to achieve with the attention of medical authorities pressuring us to have an elective cesarean. Common sense won out and by trusting in birth, and my body, our baby came into the world in a loving, peaceful, safe, and joyful environment.

I gave birth to my son and first baby in April 2010... he was a bottom first breech born at home in our bathroom with a little help from two independent midwives. I watched your birth video so many times before I gave birth and it was truly inspirational to me. It gave me a lot of strength and helped me to believe in birth and in my body. I would like to say thank you for that! I am about to give birth to my second child... this one is head down :)

What is selfish about creating the best possible birth experience for your baby? The alternative would have been a traumatic birth, either because the baby would have been pulled out once the body present or because it would have been a c-section.  No, c-sections are not easy, gentle births, they are traumatic and have life long consequences. All moms would ideally do their best to avoid a c-section, including birthing a breech baby, much easier to achieve successfully at home.

Thanks for all the info... I'm have my second child by water birth in a few weeks and so far were still breeched . Thanks for the reassurance it can still be done completely natural!

That was the most AMAZING thing I've ever seen! I delivered MINE (4) in a hospital. Growing up VERY sheltered, we never discussed ANYTHING of this nature, and I didn't know ANYONE who had done this. Before the baby's head came out, it looked EXACTLY like pictures of babies taken in utero. It was AMAZING!! THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!! It was WONDERFUL!!!

Wow, kudos to you!! I'm getting to have my second daughter but first natural home water birth which I am very confident in after a pretty awful hospital birth. But I do have to say I would probably be a lot more hesitant to trust my body with a breech baby. But you made it look like no problem. Great Job!! It's amazing how the medical field can really scare the crap out of us and it totally shapes the way we feel about what our bodies can do.

The research supports vaginal birth for breech. The outcomes of c-section and vaginal breech birth are equal for the baby but c-section puts mom at greater risk of morbidity and mortality and it put her future babies at risk for morbidity and mortality.
