As part of our community-based conservation efforts in Fiji, CORAL's field staff and shark sanctuary campaign partners worked with a local production company to produce "Shark Hope." Told from a uniquely Fijian perspective, the stories and imagery used in this educational film are a reflection of the local community's rich traditions and cultural identity.
The film documents the plight of Fiji's sharks and efforts to protect them. It chronicles the importance of sharks to Fiji's culture through myths and stories, as well as the critical role they play in maintaining a healthy marine environment.
"Shark Hope" features High Chief Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu and Sharkman Ratu Manoa Rasigatale, a Fijian cultural icon, former senator, and reality television personality.

And yet they are still allowed to be collected and sold to pet stores for home aquariums. Sad, but maybe by protecting areas where the sharks hang out we still can help them. Great info thanks.
