Decriminalize Polygamy

I (a straight male) am dating 2 bi-sexual women in a 3-way relationship. We are very happy.
When most people think of polygamy they think of 2 straight women married to one man. That's kind of weird and awkward in my opinion.
When the 2 women are bi-sexual and are dating each other and the man... Then it's great. The women get to enjoy both women and men... and the man gets to enjoy two women.

I don't think we should ever go around awarding multiple concurrent marriage licenses. But when you have to ask what is done to enforce anti-polygamy statutes, the same laws such as the Utah anti-bigamy law criminalizes cohabitation of a man with any woman who is not family or for whom he does not have a marriage license. It's also ineffective as a law, in terms of how much people and the law enforcement care. Despite all this, the whole thing could be solved(...to be continued)

Also, what about choice and love? People should be with who they want otherwise under your scenario, yes people would be left single, but then what if no one wanted those surplus of single men? Are we to force women to be with those they don't want instead of those men they do want whether married or not? The reality is, there is never going to be a time where there's enough men for women or vice-versa unless you keep the pop. between genders equal and DESIRable. That's not practical.

Lenkel,
First off, not everyone would engage in polygamy so your scenario is hypothetical at best. I can see if every male wanted 2 or more women then there would not be enough for polygyny but historically and even today, we find in polygamy friendly socieities, that only a small percentage of the population engage in or would want to engage in polygamy. And while there are 45 million more men, wouldn't POLYANDRY be needed then or how would these men find relationships with women?

Be careful Youtube deleted my pro polygamy playlist. They may come after you. Fortunately I keep a back up of the videos on my computer.

Decriminalize polygamy. The extreme lengths to which we go allow for these underground cults to thrive and profit. If we gave some legitimacy to polygamous relationships, we could find more cooperation in cracking down on these cults and the various child abuses they bring, because there is a legitimate, on the books version which can be practiced, this isn't about forcing everyone to think polygamy is moral, but polygamy is pretty much like the drug wars, where we lose by prohibition.
-
I think it is right to outlaw polygamy because male and female population is at near parity in our country, and in fact there are more men in the world than women by about 45 million. Under the age of 65 there are 100 million more men in the world than women. Polygamy is anti-social, socially harmful behavior that explicitly leaves many without the chance at a mate. Governments have a strong impetus to ban polygamy for the common peace.

Polygamy was made illegal back in the 1800s because most Americans back then saw it as bad when watching the Mormons practice it. But that's coming from an era when there was plenty of prejudice to not accept people who were different. Now we're in an era where we shouldn't be prohibiting people from living their life if there's no legitimate moral reasons against it. Saying that it is an odd lifestyle for YOU only speaks for you. Let others live their life just as long as it causes no harm.

I'm an agnostic secularist, and I am ALL FOR polygamy. I can see it working out very well, if thats what a family wants. Imagine- a family earning 2 incomes, and still the kids get to have a stay-at-home parent.
It works fo everyone involved, yet its illegal because the Gov. can't remember why the church and state seperated.
-
Because, for some reason, the government can't seem to remember anything about the mysterious- possibly mythical- "Separation of Church and State".
Its all religious.
Are u saying u and ur wife have eyes on another woman? Your wife is ok with it?

I happen to not be a polygamist.
Not to say I would never give it a shot either. I'm a free spirited gal after all.
But dammit, everybody should have the right to marry whoever they want.
EVERYBODY. For those who don't want to go there I'll leave it at that.
Society has yet to crumble because this dude has four wives or that kid has two dads.

Who said anything about Mormans? Polygamy is worldwide...and exsists outside the Morman faith. Try not to be narrow-minded. One couple might add an extra wife....or an extra man...this is not slavery, it's voluntary satisfaction. If Jesus were among us...we believe he'd have many wives...after all...Jesus wasn't a Christian...he was Jewish...a Rabi.
