http://www.thegeniusofaplace.com Trailer of THE GENIUS OF A PLACE, a documentary about sustainable development, filmed in Cortona, Italy, the town made famous by "Under the Tuscan Sun". COMING SOON

In today's world, every community -- big or small -- faces the challenge of balancing economic interests with preserving that place's beauty, livability and long-term sustainability.

No matter where they are, places of beauty are vulnerable. Either mankind takes care of them or they will be lost, forever.

What's YOUR special place? Love it or lose it...

"The Genius of a Place" is a co-production of OLO creative farm and Sarah Marder.

  • @BURNT BT THE TUSCAN SUN - A further thought: your comments remind us of something that Mark McDonald, CEO and President of The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation, wrote recently to Sarah Marder. "Historic sites often are powerful economic engines, but they need reinvestment. Some treat them as though they were strip mines, taking all of their wealth out and walking away." He added that he believed that "we should nurture these sites as though were sustainable farms."

    We agree with him.

  • Yes, it's incredibly sad to see places of rare beauty blemished by thoughtless, opportunistic development.

  • Italy counts tourism as "It's Petroleum" and the mindset is to milk it for all its worth, without any idea of preservation, conservation or tradition. I would like to have seen some of the places like Perugia which has destroyed then entire approach around it, or Assisi which doesn't have any local feel whatsoever included...

Hopefully this movie will have a greater impact in Italy than everywhere else.

Kudos for you to bringing this to the fore --
