This is an excerpt from "Divining," the first ballet choreographed by Judith Jamison for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in 1984, The role of the diviner was written with Donna Wood in mind.

Principal dancer in this clip is Elizabeth Roxas--absolutely divine.

The African-inspired percussion score, mostly drums, is by Kimati Dinizulu and Monti Ellison
