Red Flag, 1 of 5

Nellis Air Force Base near Las Vegas is home to one of the most sophisticated military training facilities in the world. With over 12,000 square miles of airspace, the Nellis Range is home to the famous "Red Flag" training exercises, where over 100 NATO and USAF combat aircraft engage hostile air and ground threats, unrestricted, at supersonic speeds, in a real-world environment, offering pilots invaluable experience in real-world air combat situations. As one aviator said after returning from a mission over Baghdad in the first Gulf War, "this is really tough, but it's not as intense as Red Flag."

RED FLAG shows what it is like at these extraordinary exercises, following the scenarios as the Red and Blue teams engage each other over the desert. Meet the instructors who devise new scenarios, hear from the pilots who endure them, and take in the view from the cockpit during actual drills.

@ApacheCobra I don t think so my friend.Red Flag is supposed to be THE training exercise that a fighter pilot wants to participate.Every country sends the best pilot-aircrafts and the tactics that are performed there are not rookie level at all.On the contrary.

The American US Air-force had never ever lost Red Flag but all this changed when the Greek pilots of the Hellenic Air-force appeared first time 2008. The US Air-force pilots got some very humble lessons from the Greek testosterone fueled pilots. The US Air-force lost and never that bad. The kill ratio between Greece:US was and astonishing 18:3 kill ratio in favor of Greece. In 2011 the Greek Air-force came top in all NATO Air-force with Greek pilots voted the best for a third consecutive time.
