I don't want to hit my pads that hard to activate buttons in Reason! Is there any way around it?!

  • how does it work when playing drum samples? do the lower velocity pad strikes register or does it do the same thing?

  • @ProfessaKA0S It works just fine when I play an instrument. And as you can see in the video, the controller registers the soft pushes too. It seems as if Reason need a velocity higher than a certain number, or something.

  • @ProfessaKA0S Also, when the buttons are on and I push very soft, they turn off. It's just a problem when turning them on.

  • @Adevade First thing I would try (if you haven't already) is another USB cable and then another USB port. Then if the problem is still happening try it with another computer if possible. Try trouble shoot where the problem is occurring. I highly doubt it is Reason (but don't rule it out) . I would first see if the problem is with the controller, then computer and then the software. Also see if anyone on youtube is using the same controller with Reason and ask them if they have the same problem

  • @ProfessaKA0S Unfortunately, that did not work. Tried different cables in different ports without any luck. Did not try in another computer though. I cannot at the moment.

  • Hi, Anyone knows how to set the velocity level of MPK pads to FULL LEVEL with a push of a button, i see nothing about velocity adjustment in MPK Mini Editor?

  • There are settings in both reason and the MPK's software to fix these problems. If you can't fix the velocity sensor through software, then you have a faulty component and need to return the controller.

  • @ProgSoup It is possible.

  • Hi I just found your video. Just a couple things, starting with a suggestion. When you did the "midi learn" to allocate the pads as controllers, did you hit the button hard then? Maybe reason learned it as needing a hard press to register? Maybe not. Secondly, I am looking at buying one of these Akai minis for use with reason as well. Can you confirm that it is possible to assign the dials too? Another video says that they do not work with reason.... cheers.

  • i dont know about reason 5 but usually theres a control change to push a button in a daw. the control change is your mpk mini pad and the value should be to a range from 0-127 or something gl
