i have a small Himalayan birch i bought it a year old and this is its second year and i was wondering how to prune it to make it look like that tree does and when i should start

Hi. You need to prune out a section of the main leader when the tree is dormant in the winter time.
To create this multi-stem look, we took the top 1/3 (to just above a bud) out of a young 150 cm tall tree when it was first planted. This encouraged it to produce a good number of new shoots from lower down on the stem and grow into the vase-like shape you see in the video.
Since this initial pruning we have not had to do anything else to the tree to get it to grow like this.
