i went from a "Flight Nurse" to "Flight Medic" I'm an RN so i started out at that but i got on the job and the medic was getting to do all the work and i was just pushing drugs. so i switched over to medic, i dropped in pay but then i went back up. but i wanted to get in the action so i didn't care if pay dropped. i also work at 3ems services owned by the same company, but different towns and also i work as a ER nurse all on my days off.

@SandA425 You can take the CCEMTP class in Georgia. The important thing is to get a decent job with a service or hospital that does critical care transports. Ideally get a job for a university hospital EMS system.

Would being an army combat medic in afghanistan for a few years make my chances of becoming a full time flight medic higher?

@yakityshmack The experience would be invaluable. Are you a certified paramedic or flight nurse? There is also a certification exam you can take to be a certified flight medic.
Did you see a lot in Iraq? I am retired paramedic from FDNY
