It appears in my park that those who play cards, drink, party do better than those that do not do these things. I've given up and have been here much, much, much too long. I look forward to going home.
I'd like to cheeck the guy in the read tshirt about 12-15 years from today. Church can be great, but after the doors close everyone keeps to themselves till the following meeting. No sincere friendships out side the church building. Youer church memebers have no use for the elderly, and the elderly within themselves do not reach out to one another outside the church building. This is a problem across churches and acrosee dominational lines and sadly it's and old one.
Lonliness is very common and difficult. I'm a psychotherapist and lonliness is a major thing. I explain that anxiety/ lonliness, & a fear of death is a normal part of life.. I encouage them to find interests and join things to meet new people. It's also helpful to develop a routine and do things you enjoy at lonely times. Ride with the feelings...Joining a support group can be very helpful when you're lonely. Thanks for your video! It is sad how we treat older people in this country.
This video is an eye opener to many adults about the emotional needs of their elderly, which should be properly addressed to spare them from being confined in the pit of loneliness helplessly. Children, we can’t neglect the needs of our aging parents. Much more, we can’t forget the fact that they need us. We can always find time for them no matter how busy we are. The modern technology is also a viable tool to keep us close to them despite of our distance.
My film, Jeanne (which can be found on youtube- search jeanne asa), also looks at this subject. I hope that this gives another perspective on the link between elderly people and feelings of loneliness.
