System Modification Patterns

Evolution of technology is not a random or chaotic process. Like biological & social systems, technology evolves along certain predictable trends or patterns, well known in biology as S-Curves. System modification patterns (available in the 'Researcher' tool in Goldfire) are a library of trends of technical system evolutions. These guidelines can be used to predict trends of evolution for technical systems or classes of technology. At a micro-level, they suggest new approaches to performing a function.
