  • Those turbos sound like a Fucking jet car , after burning at the pro tree. Made the hair on my neck stand!!!!

  • coby rabon is my idle and, my cousin its awsome to be able to call him that.

  • It says automatic "shifters" are not allowed which means he can't use a shift timer and solenoid to activate the shift. Automatic transmissions are legal as long as the shifts are done by the driver.

  • @johnhalama

Thanks for the post John. I can imagine it would've been awesome to see in person. With the speed Coby is running on 600+ cubes, it makes the runs that Brad Personett and Andey Jensen are doing even more impressive with even better times and mph with SMALLER engines.

I love turbo cars. Can't wait to get to Vegas for the NHRA event in October!

  • Its the same motor as Tim Lynch..its 670 but has 108mm not 94mm

  • Automatic or not, Coby's car is 600+ cubic inches, NHRA pro mod has a 540 cubic inch limit for turbocharged entries in pro mod...regardless, I was at this event and seeing this car pick up steam on the back half of the track is absolutely awesome.

  • this is true I love promod and I'm glad it's being recognized as a pro class in the NHRA now.

The unleashed series should be interesting too, but I believe 10.5 and the other 1/8th mile classes should run 1/4 mile to make it easier to follow for newer fans (since that's what it's trying to do). That and watching those classes battle out in the Top end is amazing!

  • I'd believe that. The NHRA Unleashed series is a totally different deal and it's brand new, so if they're smart, which it sounds like they are, they'll allow cars like Coby's to race.

Should be interesting when it gets going. The first NHRA Pro Mod event in Florida is going to be amazing. It's about time the drivers in this class got a chance to race for a Wally at the national events.....

  • that's weird because I just read the NHRA Unleashed series which is also running promods and it says automatic trannys are legal.

  • It later on stipulates that "Automated shifters are prohibited; each individual shift must be a function of the driver."

This is from the 2010 NHRA rule book, so in effect, his automatic transmission Pro Mod is not legal to compete in the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing series.
