The term 'Sapper' is derived from the French military, and refers to someone who digs under enemy lines. Modern-day Army combat engineers receive Sapper training, and every year they battle it out in a test of their physical endurance, professional skills and mental toughness to determine who is gets the coveted title of 'Best Sapper.'
