Surnommée «la Reine des chants de Lalon», Farida Parveen incarne la tradition aussi riche qu'ancestrale des chants soufis du Bangladesh issus du mouvement mystique des bauls. Croisant ses connaissances musicales, tant populaires que classiques, et son profond entendement des poèmes de Lalon, Farida Parveen a su récolter les trésors de cette tradition transmise oralement et les magnifier dans une musique qui vibre au plus profond de l'âme bengalie, alliant humanité au quotidien et spiritualité aux horizons infinis. En septembre 2008, lors de la remise des prestigieux Prix Fukuoka de la Culture Asiatique au Japon, Farida Parveen s'est vu décerner le prix « Art et Culture ».

Also called "The Queen of Lalon's songs", Farida Parveen represents the immensely rich and ancestral singing tradition of the Baul movement. This art is related to Sufism and incarnated by the mystic poet Lalon Shah. Thanks to her anthentic understanding of his work, combined with her solid knowledge of Indian classical music, Farida Parveen transcends the repertoire of Lalon's song. Gathering this treasures of poetry which based on oral tradition she has managed to transmit their deep spiritual message in a universal way. In September 2008, Farida Parveen received the Art and Culture Award among the prestigious Fukuoka Asian Culture Prizes.
