Lunge exercises are hard to perform. Kneel to stand enables the exerciser to initiate movement without the need for balance and flexibility of the back leg. This drill teaches how to properly shift the bodyweight forward and force generate thru the front leg. Can be used to teach split squat, step up, or lunge progressions.

  • Great drill for anyone struggling with a lunge. Another good cue is to remind the client to drop the rear knee rather than driving the front knee forward. Many people just simply think that driving that front leg forward is proper and don't realise the difference.

  • Yep, I thought of this too. Just taught it to a client this morning but he kept extending his knee beyond the toe and raising the heel. Took a while to get him to press through the heel instead of the toe. Good stuff.
