Iron workers union pickets outside of my building

The building I work in downtown is called the Pershing Square Building. This building has been nothing but trouble for me; leaking water, contruction, cement and dust in our networking gear, MORE LEAKING WATER etc etc.

For the last several months, they've been working on building a bar on the roof, this includes some pretty heavy machinery lifting giant steel beams to the roof where welders are assembling them. TURNS OUT, the welders and steel workers are non-union and according to the picketers, illegal aliens and not certified to make the construction and welds of the frame safe. Great.

i have a buddy who inspects welds and he tells me a fails way more welds that are made by non union rather then union welders

I'm here because I can't decide weather to join a union and or which... WOW, all the back and forth arguing, name calling... I have worked as s welder in small shops for ten plus years. I certify when needed and have passed numerous tests (as needed per job/company). Geezo, even more confused now.!!!

I highly doubt there's unlicensed welders up there doing structural work. That's a load of shit. Unions are a joke anymore and shouldn't exist. Agree completely with ironworker1969

unions now are only existing to to exploit their workers and slow work down. You are no better trained or better at your job than anyone else. Unions used to have a place in america but now are antiquated. Most union jobs run over schedule and budget , some because of leadership, but most bececause the workers have become spoiled and lazy .Unions across the board are killing jobs and making prices go up on goods. It is a fact proven in numbers , non union companys are more productive

@Ruddskies haha, your healthcare system is a joke, Average Canadian ironworker apprentice 2nd year Salary: $57780, ive doubled that this so far this year buddy, when you put in 70 hours a week making 93 an hour in weschester ny you can make some money, so you can research it if you want
