Tropical Islands noch ohne Pflanzen und Wasser im Jahr 2004, einige Monate vor der offiziellen Eröffnung im Dezember.

Watch "Tropical Islands" in Summer 2004, close before the official opening end of 2004. Today, the Tropical Islands Resort is an artificial tropical resort and it's the world's largest tropical indoor pool which can accommodate up to 8,000-10,000 visitors a day.

The resort is located in Briesen/Brand, part of Halbe in Dahme-Spreewald, Brandenburg, Germany, about 60 km (36 miles) south-southeast of the metropolis Berlin.

Originally, the hangar (that is the biggest in the world) was NOT built for tropical stuff but rather as a construction hangar for the airship "Cargolifter" named Aerium. Due to the insolvency of the company, the airship was never built. The hangar and the surrounding area was bought by the Malaysian "Tanjong" company for only €17.5 million, instead of the original €80 million costs.
