I'm russian myself. Been there last time in 2010. In southern Siberia. Poor region. But everything and everyone seemed normal and decent to me (for the most part). Except the horrible roads which look like they could be from afrika. But anyways the russians still got their humor. You need humor in a country like this. Otherwise you could end up depressed and mentaly finished.
