The top of the cage (not visible here) is angled like a house, and the vertical bars there are different lengths, allowing them to be struck/plucked to make different sounds. I did this now and then, playing different sounds to make little tunes to get the birds' attention and make them quiet down. Well, Ruffles learned how to do the same thing himself, and now he often plucks on the bars he can reach. It's not very musical, but it's interesting that he picked this up as a new trick. (I'm not sure the bar-plucking sounds come through well, but you should be able to see him do it.)
