  • Oh, wow. I didn't know that Rosie had had both parts of the cast on to perform. This was great! It's so good to see the original, unchanged version of the song in its proper place.

So, did Rosie ever have Terrence Mann or Rex Smith on to do any of Chauvelin's songs?

  • I don't think she ever had Rex or Terrence on the show.

  • in a world where broadway is god, barbra streisand is jesus and julie andrews is the holy spirit, sutton foster is like mother theresa

  • @Mervielle How could you say that about Sutton Foster's singing? She has demonstrated her incredible technique, range, and versatility in her many phenomenal performances as a leading lady on the Broadway stage. In no world can Sutton Foster's voice be considered "average." I've had the pleasure of seeing her live in 3 different Broadway shows and she is really magnificent. She's completely deserving of her recognition. Her voice is completely her own and I love it.

  • That vibrato you speak of can be heard by French ladies to the day. It took me a bit to get used to it, and now I think it's perfect. I'd love to have seen Douglas Sills as well. Just remarkable. I play their cd almost daily without tiring of it.

  • Christine is gorgeous and all, but her voice drives me mad... way too much vibrato. Linda Eder is does "Only Love" and "Storybook" so brilliantly, but the pop version of this song is awful. Would love to hear her do this version with someone... maybe even change it up and throw another alto in there (maybe Sutton)!

  • I got chills!

  • @Broadway3 A song originally written for 'Rudolf' on the Mayerling Tragedy in which Crown Prince Rudolf of Austria and his mistress Mary Vetsera made a suicide pact. Only love has beautiful orchestrations and Christine kills the song, but it's better in Rudolf because the song works there.

  • This song is fantastic :D They are both very talented, it's strange, I almost feel like their voices don't quite go together, though.

  • i dont like christines voice. sorry. ugh

  • @twinteatoo

Sutton was only in her early 20's when this came out. Two younge for the part of Margurite and not fully developed vocally. She is uber talented but it wasn't the right timing for her to be the female lead. Christine Andreas was a good choice.

  • Two people have no heart.

  • @twinteatoo That's all well good, but she didn't get the lead female role did she? No, Christine got it and Sutton Foster is just in the chorus.

  • I'll never forget seeing this on broadway with the original cast. It was magical and beautiful. A perfect cast of singers and actors.
