By going around the circumference of the palm trunk with a carpet knife you can remove the frond bases and provide a clean looking trunk.

  • Actually that is debooting the palm and not removing a skirt. A skirt is when the old fronds hang down beside the trunk. Nice Washingtonia by the way

  • i'm need to do this to my palm tree too. what kind of knife do i use? and how come you need to stop cutting to the lighter color dead trunks? what happens if the lighter color dead trunks are low, you just stop there? or do you cut it even if it's lighter until it's high above? but how do i know how high i need to cut?
