White Afrikaans facing poverty in South Afrikaans

Poverty in South Africa has not only influenced the Black populace but the scourge is equal for all including whites. There are many areas in South Africa, namely Bethlehem, that may not be as crowded or as impoverished as South Africa's teeming black townships in Cape Town, or Johannesburg are, however, Bethlehem reflects the real face of South African society that is rarely seen -- the white poverty.




It's even less known after ended in 1994 that there has been a growing number of poor white Afrikaans living in smaller settlements without state pensions and relying on government social grants or unskilled jobs. Some of them even are left with no other option than begging.




They are the nation's forgotten people. The growing level of poverty among the white population is surprising but least talked about and taken care of. The Govt. in South Africa needs to understand that vast number in black poverty does not mean we must ignore white poverty.
