This is for all those who continue to believe Al's story that With Sympathy was the result of an over zealous production team at Arista. And for those, like myself, who are fond of the early Ministry sound. This and all the other material from that album(written by Mr. Al J.) was performed regularly throughout 82-84 before and after the studio recording. This is the third song from the 7/20/83 show at First Avenue in Minneapolis, MN.

  • Love this early Ministry; it was truly excellent for what it is: awesome new wave synthpop - my fave album is "Land of Rape and Honey" - Psalm 69 was the turning point into total drivel; some desperate need to prove himself a tough boy amongst the so very very emotionally insecure metal scene.

  • ...wow. I'm pretty sure the drastic change in their music had something to do with heroin use... Hell, I really don't care, I'm one of the rare fans who likes them both then and nows.

  • @fragilebastard the fact is that none of their music after this can com pare, this song is passionate emotions.the rest after thiis is enchanced mediocrity

  • @7red7 LOL someone should cover this song and poke fun at Al for all the excuses he used to write off all his old music, which is great. Everything he put out '80-'84. I love his genre's though. Lately the mid 90's records a lot.

  • I watched as you stood dancing around enjoying yourself on stage before you wrote off your past. A brilliant musical past at that.

  • What the hell? Did there balls drop in the late 80's?

  • 1:59 I want a .gif now

  • @lolliwag HIs glorious past? You truly are a moron. If you like early Ministry, that's great. But even AJ has disassociated himself with this music. I actually like this song, but it doesn't stop the fact that he looks like one of the Petshop Boys dancing around on stage. Too bad for you that you can't move on with your life like the rest of us have. I think you're a bit high strung and might want to try some valium.

  • @EYEmusique i have never agreed with anything more than what you've written there. I wish Al would embrace the earlier point of his career. Imagine he went back to making music like this?

  • @senateguard33

Have you listened to anything he did on early Wax Trax? It sounds JUST LIKE With Sympathy. That story he claims they made him write all of this is total bullshit. Actually listen to With Sympathy, he was enjoying it and you can tell he was on some of those tracks. Eearly Wax Trax was demos for With Sympathy.

  • thanks for posting, i would have never known how ministry sounded before they went hardcore :)

  • @SSJ2D2 So, there are 2 of those fans. XD
