  • Now that is what I call merit-pay.

  • Teachers should be paid more given the stringent requirements to become a teacher. Why get a B.A., additional training, and certification only to be paid 30-35k? I wouldn't. Talented, intelligent people wish to be financially rewarded for their work. Teaching shouldn't be limited to those who have a "calling", but rather should speak to those with ability.

  • I think "leadership by example" is important in any position of that stature. However, I believe he is ignoring what is fundamentally wrong with the public education system in the United States. We are currently supporting a communist form of wage distribution among our public school faculty nation-wide. Throwing money at the issue won't solve it. It might relieve economic hardship among some teachers, but it will not benefit our students one bit. Fix the system!
