What would you estimate is the length of time something like this would run before the batteries were shot?

I watched this with my 5yr old daughter. She was very impressed. Pete held her attention and at the end she said "That was awesome".

I don't understand why you have the 6k8 resistor in series with the trigger switch. I think it would make more sense if the 6k8 resistor would pull down A3 to ground.

I made a Sonic Screwdriver with a TV-B-Gone in it. Good times...
It was fun to take a toy prop like that and find ways to make it do something useful.
