Thru-hiker Dusty a.k.a. Particle hand-picked the yummiest part of the Appalachian Trail for this tenderfoot to hike for three days and guided us. We hiked in Shenandoah National Park, in Virginia, and we agree this was a perfect spot for a casual hiker to taste almost everything the Trail has to offer, minus the despair. First day, hiked 8 miles from Big Meadows Campground to Skyland, then made friends and got a lift back to the campground. Next day, we drove to and parked at Skyland, and hiked 6 miles to the Byrd's Nest 3 shelter for a backwoods overnight. Next day we hiked 4 miles to the rest area at Thornton's Gap and then caught a ride back to the car at Skyland. Don't miss the famous and delicious blackberry milkshakes in Shenandoah. And don't forget to purchase a camping pass. Video by Lauren Traub Teton exclusive for Twifties.TV.
" If you want the perfect pair of trail runners, look no further than the Asics Gel-Trabuco's."

  • Yes, it was so nice. How far are you hiking? Did you also find the Shenandoahs one of the nicest parts of the Appalachian Trail?

  • Skyline Drive. Enough said

  • Uh...who told you that 'serious' hikers don't wear sunglasses? The cat with the spindly white legs? Hope not. Because real hikers don't have spindly white legs.

Wear your shades if you want. You'll still be serious.

  • Sehr schöne Gegend

  • Wow, the parts of the AT in your video look nice and inviting. I've never been to Shenandoah. I have hiked a few stretches of the AT in Great Smoky Mountains, and the trail was almost torture, especially between Newfound Gap and Charlie's Bunion. It almost destroyed my knees. :)

  • I love hiking, women and vodka

  • Excellent, Thanks for the up load, I am getting motivated to go for it!

  • 4:32 loll

  • Kinda think you and dusty would make a good couple, YOu seem like a down home earthy type women an he is the MASTER of outdoors and hiking.

  • Really enjoyed the video- thanks. As a hiker, I am planning a hike there- just need more planning. I also loved the book you displayed- "A Walk in the Woods", it brings a good amount of history as well as humor into the subject.
