After World War I & II, the League of Nations approved the British Mandate of Palestine with the intent of creating a "National home for the Jewish people." In 1947, the United Nations approved the partition of Palestine (Arab land) into two states, one Jewish and one Arab.
On May 14, 1948 the state of Israel declared independence and this was followed by a war with the surrounding Arab states, which refused to accept the plan. Since then, Israel has been in conflict with many of the neighbouring Arab countries, resulting in several major wars and decades of violence that continue to this day.
The very people who were once the prisoners of concentration camp have now killed more people than any nation or war has ever done. The children born on either side of the borders have been educated and brainwashed to hate one another.
People from all over the world are now repulsive to the word Jew and this is likely to effect the future generation and Jews living all over the world. These Jews have now lost the sympathy and respect once bestowed upon them by other people living in the planet. It is likely to take years if not generations to forgive and forget Israelis act of terror inflicted on the helpless families and children living in Gaza during Christmas 2008.
The state of Israel has Lebanon in the north, Syria in the northeast, Jordan in the east, and Egypt on the southwest, and contains geographically diverse features within its relatively small area. Also adjacent are the West Bank to the east and Gaza Strip to the southwest.
With a population of about 7.28 million, the majority of whom are Jews; Israel is the world's only Jewish state. This brutal act by Israelis in the Gaza strip has made young children ask us a simple question Why.
Thanks to Bob Dylan for allowing me to use his song. The lyrics of this song, so powerful yet we failed to avert animosity resulting in death of so many young and beautiful people.
I hope this song with these images will spread the news and make people living in Israel & Gaza extending their hands in friendship, love and peace.
