Being a Maremont Cherry Bomb Muffler worker, I didn't have a great job, but I had one and did my best. It appears that not only is the work place corrupt, but so is the local and state run government. I was wrongfully terminated after over a year employment for being out on medical leave and never given a chance to file a temporary disability claim, unemployment or even return to work just to show the doctors notes in my hands. I was fired without so much as notice during being in the ER, hospital and held from work after being released. I was nearly blind, unable to drive and kept them noticed every other day about and with regard to my condition, yet Maremont Muffler/Cherry Bomb not only refused to take the dr notes, but also during the first 5 days (the 3 days in the video refers to the addition of 3 and 5 totaling the 8th day) told me I was fine and had a job. I didn't find out my job was terminated until I appealed to the state for food stamps (12th day out) to feed my son and I, until I returned to work. Upon calling for verification of employment, they (Maremont) explained to the caseworker that my termination notice was mailed on the 10th day and should be in my mailbox at that moment. Yet the job offered paid short term disability which began on the 15th day of disability. Now honesty, how can you be fired for being placed out of work after a total of 10 days if the very insurance the company offers does not take effect until the 15th day? This case was appealed twice, both times, the state took 3 months to review the case, each time it was denied based on the company's policy that no matter what the excuse, you are granted 7 days to return to work, "FOR ANY REASON INCLUDING CHILD BIRTH" ... period.

The State Board Of Labor offered no help, the legal law offices, do NOT offer free help to everyone, and are allowed to pick and choose cases. The expenses of court cost, filing fees and mailing documents are not covered by the no cost clause, and thus a retainer of upwards of $1500 is required to begin a case with a willing lawyer (none of which would take because of the straight forward handbook written rules concerning this issue). The case was finally closed in November 2009. From March 2009 to March 2010 I have remained unemployed and denied benefits (ALL) the full year while waiting for a dead end. THIS is why the south sucks! No advocates, unjust, unfair treatment, subhuman treatment and conditions in the workplace and state agents who just don't care or know what their jobs are.

State Worker in Nashville Board Of Labor, "I'm sorry sir, but to file a claim against an employer, it will cost you $75 up front."
I exclaim, "You charge ME, the employee, a fee to investigate my loss of employment, and therefore lack of income, before the case even begins? Maybe you have me mistaken, I want to file a claim MYSELF, I am not a lawyer. You must have some paperwork for an independent person to file and make a claim for investigation by the state?"
Worker, "No sir, this is for your lawyer to make a claim with. We don't provide paperwork for individuals to file their own claims, just their lawyers."
Me, "So how is that fair to the employee who is already crippled by the loss of a job, and therefore income. You're telling me a independent person can not file a claim by themselves without a lawyer? What's the point in having a Board Of Labor if you charge the employee money to begin a claim, tell them they need a lawyer, and don't even carry paperwork for them to file a claim themselves?!"
Worker, "Sir, do you want the paperwork or not?"
Me, "Is it free to file?"
Worker, "No, there is a fee to file and you'll need a lawyer to file for you. Do you want the paperwork or not?"
Me, "No, I want to find a agency in this state that isn't corrupted or catering to the employers!"
I hang up.

So PLEASE understand that upon making this video, it had been 1 month with no pay, no state backing or help, and not even a letter since my application for Unemployment.

UPDATE: Since this video was made, moved FAR away from the South!

@biglloyddobbs All of those things are what I enjoy and treasure. I am currently leaving. The higher taxes pay for the programs which the south doesn't have. Unions keep things legal when your a worker, unlike in the south. The cold is better than the heat, you can only get so naked, but in cold you can always pile on more clothes. The cost of living means you get what you pay for. A shack in the woods 20 miles from town sucks. Ugly or not, at least they can add and talk. I'm rude too asshole!

the south sucks i live in it but im from Michigan thats where my whole family is from and some are from wisconsin but the south is just horrible i cant wait till i go back to Michigan

I hear you, I went to school in Mississippi and was happy to get the fuck out of there.

When I went to visit a buddy in SC I had to deal with corrupt cops,the worst type of Christians, racist, ant-union assholes, Walmart, zero culture and a warped attitude about middle America.

They are almost fascist but suck tax dollars out of the North. We should shut every military base in the South down and every time they have a natural disaster we should make them pay for it themselves.
