  • Really great review as always! I really enjoy this type of review where you take us through a "family" of bourbons. Thanks for educating me on WT, the Russels sounds like it would be right in my wheelhouse.

Do you think WT 101 is a good mixing bourbon? My wife likes sours, and I like the occasional old fashioned - what are your thoughts on cocktail whiskies?

  • @terrapin72 101 is a great sipper and a great mixer. Wonderful mixer for those that like bourbon and still wish to taste it in their cocktail.

  • I was wondering if like Wine it would be better to maybe take a sip of water in between tasting to kinda clear out the palate? In my younger days 101 was my drink. i have always drank it straight chilled with a small sip of water afterwards. Peace Teresa

  • @RandomGirl012 Teresa, that's certainly something you can do. Certainly can't hurt! Cheers.

  • $30 for Russell's Reserve?!? Gees you guys are lucky... It's $90 here in Melbourne, Australia... Also strange to see here in Oz that Russell's Reserve is $20 more expensive than Rare Breed...

Anyway had some last night, enjoyed it immensly. I agree with you Jason, very well balanced. Great interview, keep up the great work!

  • @chasiubaau That is interesting that its more expensive than Rare Breed.

  • This has convinced me to give 101 another try. Last time I tried it, I found it a little overwhelming... but I'm willing to give it another shot.

  • @chasiubaau yeah i feel you, spent a couple years in oz and the only thing i didnt like about it was the price of alcohol, good liqour just isn't affordable to most, i've been like a kid in a candy store since i been back, i'm loading up me and my gf's suitcase next time :)

  • ohh i drink my bourbon..lol...i have tasted lots of bourbons as well, an i like wild turkey 101 the best at its price point..

  • Drink it straight from the bottle you nard.

  • Great review, and I totally agree with the porcupine statement!! Try 101 with Barqs or any kind of Root beer. The rich vanilla taste from the root beer and natural strong taste from the 101 is amazing. It calms the porcupine but still goes down very smooth.
