Lawrence University Convocation Series presents guest speaker Ray Suarez, PBS Senior Correspondent, "The NewsHour", lecturing on "The Browning of America".
This lecture was delivered on October 5, 2010.
A journalist with more than 30 years of experience, Ray Suarez began reporting for PBS' "The NewsHour" in October 1999 as a Washington-based senior correspondent focusing on global health issues. He joined The NewsHour after six years of hosting National Public Radio's call-in news program "Talk of the Nation." In addition to his duties with "The NewsHour," he hosts the monthly foreign affairs radio program "America Abroad" for Public Radio International and the weekly politics program "Destination Casa Blanca" for HITN TV, the Hispanic Information Telecommunications Network.
In addition to his reporting, he has written two books, "The Old Neighborhood: What We Lost in the Great Suburban Migration," which examines the motivations behind the flight away from America's urban centers and 2006's "The Holy Vote: The Politics of Faith in America" in which he explores the intersection between politics and the Christian faith.
