Parry's magnificent setting of Psalm 122(121) 'Laetatus sum'. This recording is from the Diaconate Ordination of Rev. John Adams in the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Christchurch N.Z. 22 November AD2002. This was the Psalm after the First Reading!
"I was glad when they said unto me : We will go into the house of the Lord.
Our feet shall stand in thy gates : O Jerusalem.
Jerusalem is built as a city : that is at unity in itself.
O pray for the peace of Jerusalem : they shall prosper that love thee.
Peace be within thy walls : and plenteousness within thy palaces."

Excellent use of a choral setting of the psalm text within the Liturgy. If only more RC parishes and cathedrals thought outside the "responsorial psalm" box (and the "congregational Mass" box, and the "four hymns at a liturgy" box) , more excellent choirs would be developed to sing this grand and glorious literature. Greetings from Saint Peter's Catholic Church in Columbia, South Carolina USA.

I love it! Thanks so much for posting. I love it when they keep the Vivat section in, though.
