Anti-aircraft warfare, or air defence, is any method of engaging hostile military aircraft in defence of ground objectives, ground or naval forces or denial of passage through a specific airspace region, area or anti-aircraft combat zone. It is also used in denying entry into national air space to unauthorized aircraft.
From the initial introduction of aircraft into combat during the First World War the means to achieve air defense included infantry firearms, light anti-aircraft weapons, cannons and anti-aircraft artillery as well as barrage balloons and interceptor aircraft, with all aided by radar installations, growing in power and accuracy over the course of the 20th century, particularly with the introduction of the surface-to-air missile to self-propelled anti-aircraft weapons.
The Ho Chi Minh trail was a path that ran from the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam) to the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam) through the neighboring kingdoms of Laos and Cambodia. The system provided support, in the form of manpower and materiel, to the Vietcong, or National Liberation Front, and the North Vietnamese Army, or People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN), during the Vietnam War (1959-1975).
The trail was not a single route, but rather a complex maze of truck routes, paths for foot and bicycle traffic, and river transportation systems. The name, taken from North Vietnamese president Ho Chi Minh, is of American origin. Although the trail was mostly in Laos, the communists called it the Truong Son Road, after a mountain range in central Vietnam. According to the U.S. National Security Agency's official history of the war, the Trail system was "one of the great achievements of military engineering of the 20th century."
Pin Ball Wizard did work. Eventual counter measured to "decoying" sensors were developed arming rings to fire an s-mine in the sensor if pissed on. It was found the frag bombs were "damaging" trucks but not destroying them, so they could be moved before the recon guys flew over. Finaly the IR/Low-light video footage "proved" the guys in the Spooky were hitting the trucks but they were being hauled off before Dawn. Dropping delayed action AP bombs helped too
