this game is so freaking hard man its bs I cant even complete it in the second dificulty and I try really hard I mean I BUILD tons of freaking units and put my science slider to the max and the other fucking civs just end up gangin up on me and shit in the end its so frustrating

try focus on making a few powerful and productive cities rather than expanding a lot. when i get ganged up on i just make a bunch defensive units and let the enemy attack me.

Here's a tip, at the beginning, form your plan, like are you going to try to scientifically out-develop your enemies, are you going to make your capital city your "factory" city, are you going to declare war in the ancient age or the modern age. Once you have a plan you've won half the battle. Planning also helps you win in other games like a FPS. Remember that.

you have to frikkin' destroy everyone. the only way to have friends is to overpower them, and then rebuild them. once you flat out dominate the crap out of everyone, then you have the free time for science, culture, etc. i've beaten it as far as emperor, and that's the only way i've ever been able to get that far. it ain't easy. you can't let people push you around.

this game is very hard, I wonder if any1 ever beat it on exspert. I tried it a couple times on exspert, and lost in like, 10 turns, lol. I like playing the easyist setting and whopping the computer. Nice vid by the way

Well, in random maps you can lose even with chieftain difficulty, assuming you start from a piece of land of 3 tiles and the ocean surrounding you :D

But usually (my hardest difficulty level being just monarch so far, though) it's useful to first build some warriors before starting to expand. And you must choose your way to play the game till the end. You can either try to prosper through science, or through war and make the others to give you science for a cease fire, for example.
